Bio

Professor Jung received his Ph.D. in economics from Seoul National University. Before joining SONAS, he worked as a researcher at both the Bank of Korea and the Korea Institute for International Economic Policy (KIEP). He has an extensive publication record, including journal articles and books focused on the North Korean economy. Notable works include "China's Trade and Investment with North Korea: Firm Survey in Dandong" (2015) and "Measuring North Korean Marketization: An Index Approach" (2022). His primary research interests are in the economic relationships between North Korea and China, as well as the potential economic integration of North and South Korea.
